The Kochi Prefectural Museum of History and Folklore opened in May 1991 at Okahoyozan, Nankoku City, as a comprehensive museum of history in the hope of contributing to the promotion of prefectural culture by studying the footsteps of the people of Tosa and passing on the results to the present ・ and next generations, and to create a unique locality that makes the most of tradition.

Okahoyoyama ( Okouyama ), where the museum is located, is the site of the castle of the Chosokabe clan during the Warring States period, and is maintained as the Okahoyoyama Historical Park where visitors can stroll and learn about the area.
We hope that our museum will become a place where people can encounter history and a foothold for building a better future.
